Organizational Objectives and Total Compensation Grading Guide

Resource: Organizational Objectives and Total Compensation Grading Guide

http://myresource.phoenix.edu/secure/resource/HRM324R4/HRM324_r4_Organizational_Objectives_and_Total_Compensation_grading_guide_week1.doc

Unsure of legal obligations in designing a total compensation plan, a client has asked you, as a human resources consultant, to explain how certain laws and regulations affect total compensation in their organization. The client’s organization employs 200 people, is a federal contractor, and operates in the biotech industry.

Write a 900-word paper (in third person voice) that provides examples of laws and regulations that influence total compensation.

Analyze similarities and differences in total compensation between this organization and other organizations in different external markets.

Discuss at least two examples that illustrate such similarities and differences.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Unit 8 Managing CJ

Decision-Making Processes

Part One: Local Police Role in Homeland Security

As you may recall from the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, the role of the local Boston Police Department was far more extensive than the “getting coffee for federal agents” that TV police dramas sometimes portray. It was a true partnership between local and federal agencies, working hand-in-hand to protect the local community, and potentially the entire country, from an initially unknown enemy. In the textbook, Cordner outlines that the police role in homeland security is comprised of four sectors or systems.

Outline these four sectors or systems of the police role in homeland security and apply them to what the Boston Police Department did in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Provide at least one example of how the Boston Police Department performed each of these four sectors or systems of the police role in homeland security during the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Explain how police attention to terrorism and homeland security has led to the development of intelligence-led policing.

Part Two: Decision-Making and Organizational Philosophies

Intelligence-led policing and community-oriented policing are two of the primary organizational philosophies used by law enforcement agencies today. These philosophies guide the decisions made within organizations and how they reduce crime and the fear of crime in their communities.

Compare and contrast intelligence-led policing and community-oriented policing strategies (discussed earlier in the course).
Research your local law enforcement agency and discuss how they incorporate these two philosophies in the administration of their organization. Setting up an interview with a member of your local law enforcement agency to gain this information is highly recommended, but not required.

Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, and mechanics).
Writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful.
Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.
Follow standard APA guidelines:
Include a title page and references page.
Document should include a running head with page numbers.
Double spaced, in Arial or Times New Roman, 12-point font size.
Cite all sources on a separate reference page at the end of your paper and cited within the body of your paper using APA format.
Note: This Assignment requires outside research. Use at least two credible sources beyond the text material and discuss how you evaluated the credibility of the resources used. You may consult the Library, the Internet, the textbook, other course materials, and any other outside resources in supporting your task, using proper citations in APA style.

private sector’s roles and responsibilities related to our nation’s critical infrastructure

Below is the instruction and Rubric provided by the professor. For this plan I choose Transportation Systems Sector. I’ve attached the required readings the time period covered for this paper.

Up to this point in our study, we have focused upon the private sector’s roles and responsibilities related to our nation’s critical infrastructure, as well as the necessity of ensuring the goods and services they offer are provided in an uninterrupted manner. The combination of these two issues will serve as the primary focus of this written assignment.

First, select a specific critical infrastructure sector that you have an interest in and would like to direct attention towards “Transportation System Sector”. Based upon your chosen sector, offer information related to the primary areas of risk it has identified and steps being taken to address them. Such information can be found within the applicable Sector Specific Plan and related resources. Next, offer insight regarding how a private sector organization operating within this sector would enhance its ability to provide its essential services when facing such threats and hazards. Essentially, you will be providing details regarding how a private sector entity (such as a locally owned fuel provider within the Energy Sector) carries out its continuity planning initiatives. To aid you in this effort, utilize FEMA’s Continuity Guidance Circular to convey specifics regarding building and maintaining continuity capability.

Technical Requirements
• Your paper must be at a minimum of 5 pages (the Title and Reference pages do not count towards the minimum limit).
• Scholarly and credible references should be used. A good rule of thumb is at least 2 scholarly sources per page of content.
• Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.
• Students will follow the current APA Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.
• Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer-reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc.

This assignment must demonstrate that you have done research and learned about your specific topic (see the Topic Guide in Week 6). You will make use of a variety of sources (academic articles, reports, and reputable journalism) to introduce and outline your topic/research. Your proposal must include the following:

In other words, elaborate, contextualize, frame and discuss your question.

Tentative Thesis and Topic Overview: Paragraph form section

Set up and introduce your thesis/topic statement. It must be carefully and grammatically written! It should be clear, focused, and specific. Establish and Discuss your narrow topic clearly.

Develop this thesis with a topic overview/discussion (Intro to your topic). This will allow you to articulate your rationale/reason/purpose/aim.

The topic overview section clearly identifies the focus/direction/aim of your research essay. This is where you can discuss your topic in some detail and briefly discuss some key ideas, facts, and the sources you will be using in your research essay. Also, explain the relevance of your topic and why it is significant. This section should be well written, concise, edited well and organized. It outlines the topic and helps the reader understand what you intend to research/write about, and why it is an important/significant topic. It can be organized to include information regarding the background, context/significance, current information, details, and the aims/goals for your research paper. (MUST HAVE MLA IN-TEXT CITATIONS)
