JOB ENRICHMENT : It is a management concept which involves redesigning of jobs so that employees can able to tackle challanges. small business owners can provide employees with great job enrichment opprotunities. Here I am going to discuss some pros ad cons of job enrichment:
advantages
* LEARN NEW SKILLS : employees get opprotunities to learn new things. and it is best way to learn new skills. An worker who is responsible for taking decisions like which product to advertise or not, will learn new skills through job enrichment.
* REDUCE BOREDOM : as doing same work all the day make task boring and job enrichment adds variety to employees duties.
* RECEIVE RECOGNITION : when employees do variety of work and improve thrier skills then they ultimately get recognition for the work done.
* EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION : When employees feel like more trusted by company then they get motivated. When motivated employees do work, their productivity can be easily seen in their work.
DISADVANTAGES
* LACK OF TRAINING : when employees are given huge tasks through job enrichment, they may not be well trained and skilled or experienced in doing that task. lack of training may be disadvantage for both employer and employees as it reduces productivity.
* INCREASE WORKLOAD : Job enrichment increases employees workload. some employees can manage the work but mostly it is seen that it is difficult to manage. and employees get frustrated and burned out due to heavy work load.
* CONFLICT WITH NON PARTICIPANTS : not every employee can participate in job enrichment. only few can able to take part. and some times conflict between both the parties arises.
* POOR PERFORMANCE : In job enrichment some employees excel and some perform poorly because of lack of training, lack of clarity of new task and lack of interest in new work.
FOLLOWING ARE SOME POINTS WHICH TELLS US THAT WHY JOB ENRICHMENT FAILS :
* It fails due lack of systematic assessment of work
* job enrichment fails to provide concrete direction
* it fails because it is lacks in motivating.
* it is very coslty. making few innovations makes the job enrichment very costly which is the mian reason of its failures.
