There is no doubt in the fact that complex nature of health workforce can lead to communication failure and conflict which should be solved effectively so as to ensure adequate functioning of the healthcare systems.
The diverse backgrounds of workforce and cultural differences makes it a little difficult to communicate effectively and at times the receiver does not receive the message in the same way as the communicator wants to convey.
The competition is increasing within and externally as well and it makes the entire healthcare system more complex and susceptible to communication failures which results in conflicts.
There is a lot of conflicting views and distrust among various health care professionals and external stakeholders as well which makes it even more difficult to avoid conflict and communication failures.
Some of the most important and widely used ways that can be used to ensure quality communication and conflict management skills are:
Employees should be sensitized regarding the ill effects of conflicts and miscommunication and a proper training schedule should be made to ensure everybody has a sound idea of how to take things forward in the favor if healthcare organization.
The workforce should be made to work as a team and hence team building activities, trips, remuneration and a positive environment can work in the favor of the organization.
Employee should feel respected and the organization should take his opinion in building the organization and this will bring in the feeling of commitment rather than resistance.
If needed, third party should be hired to ensure that conflict resolution is speedy and conflict are managed properly keeping in mind the business goals are not defeated.
Employees should not feel that there is any biasness with or against any employee and all this together would definitely help in building a team and keeping them motivated
