Managers and Leaders are two very different terms in todays scenario. Managers are someone who are better organized, follows rules, makes people to follow those rules and are very practical but leaders on the other hand are the ones who can handle chaos and not very streamlined processes. They can adapt themselves and make their team adapt to the changes which makes them people oriented. So obviously they both have different influence on their staff, more established organizations needs managers as they have streamlined processes and hence need a person who can make everyone follow those laid down rules while the startup culture needs leaders who can bring out the best in their people by influencing them and not restricitng them. They are less authoratative and more influential.
