Self-Care Goals

Self-care is a crucial part of keeping health better to improve lifestyle. It is a lifestyle that integrates habits that enable oneself to refresh their interest and even grow as an individual (Wilder, 2018). Therefore, self-care is a matter of personal concern. Everyone’s solution to health and lifestyle is different. It pertains to someone who is working and beyond the workplace to maintain the overall well-being so as one can fulfill their individual and professional responsibilities. Setting goals, therefore, will enable oneself to make their dreams come true (Tipton, 2017). Goals have an essential part in success, whereas offering a way to track progress in the long run. Goals increase self-esteem, performance, and engagement, as per the Psychology currently. Therefore, one can set targets for every aspect of their life, particularly on health and fitness. The SMART acronym is a steer to one technique of putting useful targets. The five steps to establish a SMART objective encompasses the creation of targets, and this is specific, action-oriented, realistic, measurable, and time-bound (Wilder, 2018). Thus, this paper explores my capacity to create reasonable and realistic health and self-care strategies to suit my personal as well as professional lifestyle

The SMART term will only be “smart” unless an individual reassesses while on their goal course. I will, therefore, in this paper, integrate the SMART acronym onto the six dimensions of well-being, which comprise the physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, and environmental.

Physical:

Keeping a sound, considerable body via daily exercise, good nutrition, adequate sleeping as well as by evading harmful behaviors. Ensuring a consistent and all-rounded fitness routine is important to physical well-being. In this dimension, based on the SMART’s specific (S), I will always try to keep myself within the nutrition as well as trying to avoid harmful habits (Wilder, 2018).

Emotional:

This entails being in touch with the emotional existence as well as being aware of and comfortable with one’s ideas and feelings. Emotional wellness depends on the ability to show one’s ideas, the feelings as well as to absorb other people’s thoughts (Wilder, 2018). However, with SMART’S measurable (M), I will be able to be comfortable with my ideas and feelings, whereas getting the ideas of other people.

Environmental:

Surrounding oneself with the healthy work as well as with dwelling setting free of potential dangers and centered on the preservation of the whole natural resources with the involvement that one plays in protecting the environment (Wilder, 2018). Therefore, environmental wellness is all about regard for nature as well as one’s surroundings and to achieve individual satisfaction from their surroundings (Wilder, 2018). Based on SMART’S action-oriented (A), I will aim at making something from other people like, for instance, learning their healthy habits as well as protection of the environment.

Social

Social health is all concerning a good relationship, engaging, and connecting with others well. The social wellness is moreover about feeling comfortable in one’s skin so that you can lead a healthy dwelling environment. In this regard, the participation of individuals across all parts of our lives is equal to social wellness (Wilder, 2018). Based on SMART’S goals, the realistic (R) goal will enable me to set achievable goals in an environment whereby I interact with other people and learn from them.

Spiritual:

To have a feeling that life is important, and that life has a meaning and ideas that one is always guided throughout in their journey. The spiritual well-being is all concerning accepting the metaphysical as well as going further than the physical realm in the experience and life (Tipton, 2017). Therefore, based on the SMART’S goal on time-bound (T), I will ensure that throughout life, I am guided by spiritual wellness and thus attaining the physical realm of encounters.

Intellectual:

This is the capability of engaging in a vibrant relationship with the people and the surrounding. The intelligence is all about exerting the muscle of the brain and expanding the mind. Intellectual is part of the individual regarding studying, problem -solving, refining, and creativity. Thus, intellectual wellness requires communicating with others at a cognitive level.

Barriers to Attaining Personal Self-care

Comparing yourself to others

It’s possible to get into a similar trap. Observing all around and that there is the probability of somebody doing whatever they wish to undertake (Tipton, 2017). Trying to equate oneself towards where others are and wondering how one can compete with the rest can bring oneself down and perpetuate the mindset of the scarcity as well as fear, for instance, believing that oneself is not good enough.

Fear of failure

Fear is perhaps a protective measure designed to keep someone safe or out of risk. It checks the world to what could go wrong but tries hard to stop it from taking place. The problem with such an approach is indeed that fear predicts a more devastating result, while one is striving towards their dreams and attempting to stop them (Tipton, 2017).

How I will Self-Assess these Goals

I will away try to focus on myself always and avoiding the habit of trying to compete with other people considering that we all have a different life. This will enable me to focus on my wellness. I will also attempt to avoid the negativity of if something would not work out. By doing so will allow me to believe in myself that in the end, I will be able to get a positive result.

In conclusion, observing good care of oneself is the reason for the success of someone’s recovery process. Individuals in recovery discover that their physiological, spiritual, and emotional well-being are all linked and that each of them supports one another. Keeping care of the whole facets of oneself will make one more possible to live healthily. Thus, by accepting these aspects, one is best equipped with handling the dynamics and spontaneity that life gives us. Furthermore, while one or even more dimensions might be at risk, others have a more significant part to play in managing the vulnerable dimension.
