About- IPMA was founded in Vienna in 1965 as the world’s first project management association. Their original name was the International Management Systems Association (IMSA). The organization then became known as INTERNET (International Network) in 1967, and finally the name was changed to the current International Project Management Association in the early 1970s.
Joe was pleased to see that IPMA offers a wide variety of services in order to help him learn the basics and then develop his potential to excel in the field of project management. IPMA is member-driven and staffed by experienced, dedicated volunteers, ensuring top-notch service at every step of his journey. He was also excited to learn that he would be able to obtain his IPMA certification in the comfort of his own home through web-based services. IPMA is a Federation of about 70 Member Associations (MAs). MAs develop project management competencies in their geographic areas of influence, interacting with thousands of practitioners and developing relationships with corporations, government agencies, universities and colleges, as well as training organizations and consulting companies.
Certificates- The IPMA Four Level Certification (4-L-C) system includes advanced, performance-based certifications for experienced managers as well as an entry level, knowledge-based certification for newcomers. Best of all, you can enter the system based on your current level. These include IPMA Level A (Certified Projects Director), IPMA Level B (Certified Senior Project Manager) or IPMA Level C (Certified Project Manager). These certificates are noteworthy, as the demand from executives, strategic leaders, managers and stakeholders for individuals with demonstrated Project, Programme and Portfolio Management competence spreads globally.

As the only association for paralegal managers and other practice support managers, this organization provides a wealth of resources to support the profession.
